Abstract

The Holy Quran is a miracle according to Quran researchers of both branches of faith in various dimension including the words, contents, style, arts, sequences, and order. The most important reason is the challenge it gives as well as its external reality. One of its miracles is verbal in the sense that the words are rhymed and this is one of the outstanding features of the Quran which manifests itself in different parts of the Quran. This is a style which met the needs of the primitive Arab audience who showed remarkable desire for rhyme and correspondence of sound between words as evidenced clearly in their poetic interactions. In addition, these rhymes completely saturated their emotional needs in musical terms. Quranic researchers have, since the early period of Islam, had discrepant views about the existence of rhythmic styles in the Quran. Some have denied it rejecting the arguments presented by the proponents but great theorists and experts in the area of literary eloquence not only confirm the existence of such a precise, delicate and miraculous style but they have also gone to state that it is one of the distinct verbal and artistic features of the Quran. Thus, they have made their efforts in presenting this style and rendering it. This style of expressing things is not a goal of the Quran; rather it is just a tool used by the Quran to grab the attention of the audience.
